In celebration of our 80th year CBCA have based Echo the Emu on the first Book Week winner’s character ‘Karrawingi the Emu’. That was 80 years ago, and Echo is the descendant and great-great grandchild of that emu. Emus live 25-28 years in the wild. There’s a fun fact you need to know!
The Story of Karrawingi the Emu was an illustrated children's book by Australian author Leslie Rees and illustrator Walter Cunningham. It won the Children's Book of the Year Award: Older Readers in 1946.
Now you can have the cute, fluffy version from the fabulous Nana Huchy.
